The first rule from C.M.H.C. is that your monthly housing costs should not exceed 32% of your gross monthly household income. (This is referred to as Gross Debt Services or GDS). Secondly, your entire monthly debt load should not be any more than 40% of your gross monthly income. (This is referred to as Total Debt Services or TDS) CMHC insurance rates for high ratio mortgages.
